Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

T&H spent a week in Puglia, Italy (the ‘heel of boot’ part of Italy!) and loved it.  Here are some pics of the places we visited and kaftans we wore!  Our favourite places included the gorgeous seaside town of Polignano, Cisternino, the gastronomic town of Ceglia Messapica (where we ate at the fantastic restaurant Cibus) and the trulli filled town of Alberello.  We wore Hero kaftan in Sandgrouse red/cream, Hero kaftan in Cloud navy/cream, Hero Kaftan in Umbel with Pareo in Big Bird marine black/mint/pink as scarf.

ELECTRIC BLOOM AND WELLBEING TRAVEL

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

Helen Naumann wears Tallulah & Hope Hero silk kaftan in Elsa’s Kopje safari lodge, Kenya.  In 2010 Helen founded Electric Bloom a new type of wellbeing online travel company that takes a broader and more inspired approach to wellbeing and travel. T&H caught up with Helen when she had just returned from a trip to Kenya visiting 7 different traditional safari camps and luxury lodges in 7 days!
T&H: What inspired you to start Electric Bloom?
HN: I am passionate about alternative health and travel and i wanted to bring the two together but with a new approach
T&H: We love the sound of your ‘Home Bloom’ service how does that work?
HN: Over the years i have established the most fantastic network of wellbeing experts, services and treatments from nutritious food delivered to your door to a medical massage we know the best of the best . I wanted to share these contacts (and preferential rates) with clients so we create tailored packages or can suggest specific services and treatments that will compliment their wellbeing holiday either before they travel or when they get back. We found that some clients went on a two week spa holiday, came back feeling fantastic and wanted to keep up that healthier lifestyle or get in better shape before they go away – we can help do that.
T&H: You’ve just returned from a whistle-stop tour of some the best safari destinations in Kenya (pictures above are from Joy’s Camp), lucky you!
HN: It was an amazing trip, we work closely with some fabulous locations in Kenya so it was an opportunity to visit our partners. This type of holiday reflects our wider approach to wellbeing; although some safari destinations do offer spa treatments, it’s the experience of being so close to nature, being active and outside, sleeping under the stars, seeing sunsets and sunrises – these are things that inspire,de-stress, re-energise and uplift people. That’s what Electric Bloom is about, helping people have healthy life-enhancing experiences.

ICONIC TEXTILE BRAND ASCHER LAUNCHES LONDON POP-UP SHOP

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

ascher studio pop-up boutique

From the moment we saw Ascher fabrics at a Textile event we fell in love!  Ascher’s fabrics literally turned our heads with their incredible prints and luxurious quality.  We then learnt more about Ascher’s rich fashion heritage.  Ascher was the leading textile designer and manufacturer of the post war years  supplying Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Saint Laurent et al with his fabrics; he also collaborated with the greatest artists of the time.  Matisse and Moore, Cocteau and Toplski (amongst many others) worked with him on exquisitely printed head-scarves; Henri Mattise and Henry Moore also created vast wall panels for Ascher.

These works can be purchased and enjoyed on the new Ascher website and at the forthcoming Ascher London pop-up.  The pop-up will included framed vintage scarves designed for Zika Ascher by Picasso, Matisse, Francoise Gilot, Barbara Hepworth, Cecil Beaton, Henry Moore, and others. Large wall panels by Henry Moore which he designed for Ascher when he was their in-house textile designer, silk screen-printed on thick cotton. Archive correspondence to and from many of the artists – as well as archive photographs, to tell the story of these innovative collaborations in the 1940s.

The entire S/S 2011 scarf collection will be there, to view and to purchase, featuring scarves screen-printed on gorgeous silk twill, silk chiffon and the softest cashmere.  The new A/W 2011 collection will also be launched (but not available for purchase to the public yet).

The pop-up opens on 18th February and runs till March 15.  Free entry. Open 10:00 – 18:00, Monday – Saturday.  221 Brompton Road, SW3 2EJ.

We are delighted to offer a wonderful selection of screen-printed cotton 70′s vintage Ascher neck scarves at Tallulah & Hope.

CYNTHIA CONRAN WEARS TALLULAH & HOPE

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Cynthia Conran wears Tallulah & Hope kaftans and ponchos, luxury resort wear

Cynthia Conran wears Luxury Hooded Poncho, Circle Cape merino wool Poncho, Hero silk kaftan in Sandgrouse, Classic Short Kaftan in Starlings, silk slip with Classic Long kaftan in marine black.  Pictures taken in Cynthia’s home and Chaya Venice and Velet Margarita in Hollywood, Amercia. Final pictures Cynthia wears jacket by Jade Jagger, pink Cashmere wrap by Cynthia Conran for the The Collective Design and on holiday with father-in-law Sir Terence Conran.

Cynthia Conran has the upbeat energy and ‘can do’ attitude of someone who grew up in the sunshine state of California..   She spent her twenties living New York where she worked as a model and also ran a horse-riding school in Pasadena indulging her life-long passion for riding and horses. In her late twenties she moved to London for love and married restaurateur Tom Conran, they have three daughters.

Cynthia lives in Notting Hill and in 2010 launched The Collective Designs, a travelling boutique showcasing independent, inspiring fashion, beauty, interior and lifestyle brands.  The Collective events are edited and curated by Cynthia, they take place regularly throughout the year in friends and families homes.  The next Collective event will take place on 8th and 9th March in west London.

Cynthia also works with A.S.A.P a small charity that raises funds for African orphans who have lost their parents to the AIDS epidemic.

T&H spent the morning with in Cynthia’s beautiful home where she told us about her work, favourite places to eat and drink, and modelled pieces from our launch collection.

T&H: Why did you decide to launch The Collective?
CN: I enjoy fashion and design and i often meet really interesting designers, i saw an opportunity for me to support small, independent brands by bringing them together and creating events where people can enjoy their work in an intimate, very relaxed way. The events are the antithesis of high-street shopping!  They are where you can experience brands that you might not know of; everyone who shows at part of the Collective are chosen because they are offer something unique and special.

T&H: Tell us about some of the brands who have shown at The Collective
CC: It’s a pretty eclectic mix! Beautiful jewellery from designers such as Sally Dudumesh, Istanbul based jeweller Verda Alaton, Brooke Gregson and Jade Jagger, ‘Cuir ‘Et Terre’ artisan leather goods from the Dordogne, organic beauty brands, ‘Exquises Caprines’ soaps sourced from France made from goats milk, ‘KH Textiles’ cashmere throws from Finland, ethical fashion brands, accessory brand Pinki that uses South African springbok skins, cashmere wraps which i design, luxury silk kaftans from Tallulah & Hope!, to ‘Bluglass and Muir’ who create art pieces from Medieval London artefacts.

T&H: What’s coming up for The Collective?
CC: The next event will be on the 8th and 9th March and will be hosted in the home of florist Nikki Tibbles who founded Wild At Heart.  We have a lovely mix of lifestyle brands alongside some therapists giving mini-treatments.

T&H: Your favorite West London places to eat and drink?
CC: I’m lucky to be part of a restaurant family so i have lots of places to choose from. Coming from California i love good Mexican food and well-made margarita’s. We called Crazy Homies (Tom Conran’s Mexican restaurant) after an LA street gang ‘vatos locos’ it’s where i go to drink margarita’s with girlfriends, eat Mexican and a enjoy music.   I also love visiting my brother-in-law’s Mexican El Camino on Portobello Road (there is also a branch in Soho).   My favourite dish at The Cow is the fish stew and i can’t resist the chocolate, raspberries brownies with white chocolate chips at Tom’s Cafe.

T&H: When you venture outside West London?
CC: I love Scotts and Le Caprice for the glamour and buzz they’re great classic London restaurants.  I love the Japanese food at Roka.  The bar at The Boundary (Sir Terence Conran’s hotel/cafe/restaurant)  in Shoreditch makes beautiful cocktails and the food is fantastic.

CROCHETED BIKE WHEEL DRESS GUARDS BY SIMELI

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

These hand-crocheted dress guards for bike wheels from Simeli in the Netherlands are amazing, ok perhaps not amazingly practical for the UK climate but we think in the summer months we would definitely give them a go!

BRIDGITTE BARDOT’S GORGEOUS STRAW HAT

straw hat luxury beachwear, luxury restortwear

Just loved this picture of Bridgitte Bardot, she looks impossibly gorgeous and is also sporting a very pretty straw hat with bow detail. A straw hat, espadrilles, a great straw bag and a pair of sunglasses are all essential kit for the summer months, oh and a beautiful T&H kaftan also a must.
