Where have just been in Morocco?
We flew to Marrakesh, then stayed at the fantastic ‘Maison des Artistes‘ in Essouira, before staying with a friend at a Surf Camp in Taghazout.

Where would you recommend is the wildest destination for romance?
It depends how wild you want to go… the following are all wild and romantic, but vary in levels of comfort!
- Elsa’s Kopje, Kenya
- Gheralta Lodge, Ethiopia
- Estancia Christina, Argentina
- Benguerra Lodge, Mozambique
- Snow Leopard Lodge, Pakistan

Apart from a camera..what do you never leave home without?
A Moleskin sketchbook and a fineliner pen.

A place you would love to visit?
I’ve only set foot in South America, so a few months exploring, from Colombia down to Patagonia… that would be nice.

Best place to go to escape the British winter?
Castle Bijaipur in Rajasthan, a hidden gem that is off the beaten track and full of charm. They have stables, bicycles, a pool and morning yoga classes (taken by my sister!)

KATE AND GEORGIE SPICER

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

We didnt have long with the Spicer sisters…Kate Spicer, leading lifestyle journalist, contributing features writer for Sunday Times Style, food critic, extreme sport lover and one of the sassiest ladies T&H have ever met; and her sister Georgina Spicer beauty pr and make-up artist (whose regular clients include Sam Taylor-Wood).

Kate had just got back from cultural jaunt to Istanbul via a wedding in Ibiza and was on her way to lunch at Quo Vadis and Georgie was off to a picnic…so we immersed ourselves in Spicer world while we could.  What a rivet these ladies were! Brown (from hols), Kate has a great 20′s bob which gave everything she tried on the instant appeal of an Arnold Genthe portrait.

Kate wears Chiton kaftan in Africa with vintage Terry De Havilland wedges, brown leather bag from boutique Dos Lunas Ibzia with vintage Ascher scarf in burnt orange, Hero kaftan in Starlings navy/pink and Pareo in Big Bird Orange.  Georgie wears, Classic Short kaftan in Starlings navy/pink and Chiton in marine black worn with black vintage Terry De Havilland Wedges.

T&H: Most memorable holiday food
KS:  The fresh fish sandwiches from Eminonu (a major hub and ferry port in Instanbul). The fish, which comes straight off the boats, is  charcoal grilled and served with bread, onion and lemon so simple and so delicious!
GS: Grilled fish, vegetables and rice eaten on the beach in Goa.

T&H: …and to drink?
KS: Rose
GS: Lassi (preferably drunk on a beach in India)

T&H: Georgie,  favourite holiday beauty tips?:
GS: The So Spa at the Sofitel Hotel in St James does some lovely treatments, try one by Cinq Mondes.  I also love the Pâte de Fleurs Cleanser by Cinq Mondes and I always use Caudalie Beauty Elixir for an instant burst of radiance to the complexion. Oh and Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation is the best i ever used, it’s oil free and super light!

T&H: Favourite piece from the collection
KS: The Chiton kaftan in Africa i love the bold deep red / beige print and its versatility of wear.  I really like the super-size pareo in the orange bird print too, i love orange it’s one of my favourite colours.
GS: The Classic Short kaftan in Starlings navy/pink, its gorgeous and navy is such a classic colour.

T&H: Kate we’re very much admiring your gorgeous leather bag, where’s it from?
I bought the bag (365 euros) from Boutique Dos Lunas housed in the restaurant Las Dos Dunas, San Rafel, Ibizia.  I love it, the  leather has worn really well.

T&H: Georgie we’re loving your sunglasses, where are they from?
GS: Roberto Cavalli

SUCCESSORISE YOUR KAFTAN

How to wear jewellery with you silk classic long and chiton kaftans in marine black and teal

Extend this seasons minimal look into your holiday wardrobe…
Our Classic Long and Chiton silk kaftans in marine-black or teal are the perfect blank canvas for statement jewellery and eclectic adornments.
T&H TOP TIP:
For a more demure neckline the Classic Long kaftan can be worn back-to-front and looks amazing with more detailed neck pieces. We love the stone embellished bib neck piece by Fiona Paxton or Lanvins’  Sequin Charms necklace.
Worn with the ‘V’ at the front, try longer pendants our current fave is the Scholar’s rock necklace by Imogen Belfield or Pippa Smalls 18-karat gold aqua earrings.
T&H:  “We are firm believers is less is more… adding one piece of statement jewellery per outfit will keep it fresh and gold looks particularly good with the teal”.

Great websites to find beautifully jewellery include Tatty Devine (the perspex gold ‘Wing’ necklace worn in the picture with the Chiton in Teal is from here), Browns Fashion, Net-a-porter, Astley Clarke, EC One, Kabiri and Pebble London.

STYLE ICON Irish Apfel says “my mother worshiped at the altar of the accessory”, watch this fabulous interview with the style doyenne herself and hear her fascinating tips how to accessorise an outfit.

ROSIE MILLARD WEARING CHITON KAFTAN IN AFRICA PRINT

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Rosie wears Chiton kaftan in Africa print with black silk slip

Meeting Rosie was a proper pleasure.  Jounalist, broadcaster and author; mother and marathon runner we were preparing for a ball breaking dynamo.  Not so.  Ballsy yes, but also gentile, naughty, joyous and fun.

T&H: How do you get round the world without leaving France?
RM: By circumnavigating the world via St Pierre et Miquelon, Martinique, French Guyana, French Polynesia, New Caledonia and La Reunion.   Basically colonial France, with her husband and 4 children, oh yeah and a film crew!

T&H: Good advice for traveling with children?
RM:  It was no problem at all traveling with kids but it helps to be fantastically organised!  We traveled light and would always re-pack very carefully, that’s the key really – knowing where everything is.

T&H: Are we talking fabulous French cuisine?
RM: Not always! A bit feast or famine…bread and butter or amazing meals depending where we were.

T&H: Future projects:
RM: We are talking about the Trans-Siberian railway…

T&H: Which piece from the collection is most ‘you’?
RM: Definitely the Chiton Africa, its great for evenings with heels; very flattering when tied at the waist and these colours work brilliantly with my skin tone.
